A junior at Virginia Tech studying Hospitality and Tourism Management, Brittany Simmons resides in Smithfield, VA. Simmons graduated from Smithfield High School in 2014 with honors. She spent a year at the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, before transferring closer to home at Virginia Tech. Brittany has earned Dean’s List each semester of her college career. Brittany was a founding member of the field hockey team both at Smithfield High School, and the University of Alabama. Simmons is also a member of P. A. W. S, a club at Virginia Tech which trains therapy dogs. She is also the Vice President of Operation Hero Outreach, a club which writes letters for soldiers overseas.  Simmons has competed in beauty pageants since she was six years old. She has held titles such as Wee Miss Isle of Wight County Fair 2002, Junior Miss Isle of Wight/Surry Relay for Life 2007, and Teen Miss Isle of Wight Surry Relay for Life 2009. After graduation, Brittany hopes to pursue a career in event planning, or winery tourism.

2017 Miss Isle of Wight County Fair

Candidates submitted essays and they will be reviewed by the judges.  The announcement of the Queen will be in early August.  The candidate with the highest score will be crowed the Queen and the remaining candidates will be her Court.  The Queen and Court will participate in all activities of the fair as well as county sponsored activities around the county during the year.  The Queen will then go on to Homestead to compete in the VAF Pageant Competition to represent Isle of Wight County.
