American Poultry Show

The following is a list of rules governed by the American Poultry Association for poultry exhibitors.

1. Entry fee is $3.00 per bird and all entry fees must accompany the entry form. Make all checks payable to Isle of Wight County. Please send payment with entry form. Deadline for entry form is Friday, August 28 2026.

2. If you enter 10 Poultry exhibits, you will receive 1 fair entrance pass per exhibitor for FREE.

3. Staff reserves the right to return any and all entries received after cooping capacity has been reached. Cooping arrangements will be at the sole discretion of the exhibit management.

4. Coop in begins Thursday, September 17 at 10 a.m. All birds must be in place by Thursday night by 4 p.m. All vehicles must be off the fairgrounds by 4 p.m. Birds will not be allowed to enter after 4 p.m. and no refunds will be issued.

5. Judging begins PROMPTLY at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 18.

6. Classes will be judged through third place. Judging will be according to APA's "Standards of Perfection" and the ABA's "Bantam Standard." This is a sanctioned show.

7. All chickens for exhibition in the Commonwealth of Virginia MUST originate from Pullorum-Typhoid clean flocks, or be tested clean 90 days preceding the date of the exhibition. Please bring test papers with you to the show or send a copy with your entry form. Untested birds can be tested on site prior to cooping-in. Birds must be tested clean to be entered.

8. Sick birds, or birds infected with lice will not be permitted in the exhibitor's tent. If birds become ill during the Fair they will be removed immediately.

9. The Isle of Wight County Fair will take every precaution to guard against the loss, theft, and/or accident but WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE should these occur.

10. All chickens must be picked up Sunday, September 20 between 6 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

11. Failure to adhere to these rules may jeopardize your ability to participate in future fairs.
